Singapore / relocating to Melbourne, Australia · Australian citizen · Singapore PR

Paul Whiteway is a senior commercial and growth leader with 20+ years building and scaling digital businesses across Asia Pacific. He combines operator-scale commercial leadership in marketplaces, travel, property and media with current hands-on AI product building. He has led multi-market commercial, growth, product, partnership and P&L teams across APAC, with a record in localising products, building teams and turning market-entry complexity into repeatable growth.

At Skyscanner, Paul built the APAC commercial function from the ground up, scaling regional commercial revenue from USD 9M to USD 80M annually. As Commercial Director, APAC, he led a 15-person partnerships, data sales and market-development team across 14 markets and managed B2B partnerships accounting for USD 5B+ in annual transaction volume. He later led APAC Growth with a USD 25M marketing budget and 40-person team, growing APAC's share of global revenue from 10% to 31% and monthly visitors from 15.7M to 24M.

As Managing Director and Board Chairman of Skyscanner's Japan JV, Paul led a USD 27M P&L and 23-person cross-functional team, delivering 63% year-on-year revenue growth, reducing operating costs by 25% and making Japan Skyscanner's fastest-growing revenue market globally. In his final Skyscanner role, Senior Director, Global Growth, he led growth strategy across APAC, Europe and North America, delivered 200% of revenue target and built a market segmentation model used to guide global investment priorities.

Before Skyscanner, Paul was COO of ASX-listed iProperty Group, leading operations across seven APAC markets and an AUD 14M revenue base, introducing pricing, B2B product and sales/marketing playbooks while restructuring underperforming units to improve margins. Earlier at Yahoo, he led a 40-person APAC custom solutions team across 10 countries, growing revenue 30% year-on-year to USD 17M, and led product/audience growth across Southeast Asia to 60M users. He also founded My Emoticons in London, scaling it to USD 100K/month revenue, and previously managed Hotmail across Europe for Microsoft MSN.
